Local Crime Update 29/02/2024

Dear Residents

Please find below the crime record for the period from 16 Feb to 29 Feb 2024.

Unfortunately we’ve had a lot of motor vehicle crime over the last week of February.  Remember the usual precautions of steering wheel locks, Faraday Cases and not leaving valuable items in unattended vehicles.

On a more positive note there was only one burglary.

We carried out speed checks in St Mary’s Avenue on Friday 01/03/24.  Generally the majority of drivers complied with the speed limit but one driver was issued with a ticket for driving at 39 mph.  Another driver was clocked doing 50 mph but he was on the opposite side of the road to our stop site.  Officers did pursue but were unable to find the vehicle.

On the community engagement side I was able to visit St Mary’s Church for the after service tea and coffee on Sunday 25/02/24 where I had some very pleasant chats with members of the congregation.  I also held a drop in surgery at Shortlands Library on Saturday 24/02/24.  A lady and her little boy came to chat with me which was very nice.  (Our next drop in surgery will be at Shortlands Library on Friday 05/04/24 from 4pm to 5pm.)  We’ll be holding Cuppa With A Copper sessions at Costa Coffee, Westmoreland Road on Friday 08/03/24 from 3pm to 4pm and Friday 15/03/24 from 10am to 11am.

Also an early reminder that our next Panel meeting is on Tuesday 30/04/23 at 7.30 pm in the Friends Room at St Mary’s Church.

Thanks very much for your help and support.

Kind regards

Adam
