04 Mar Local Crime Update 28/02/2022
Dear Residents
Please find below the crime record for the period from 15 Feb to 28 Feb 2022.
Unfortunately, there’s been a couple of burglaries in the last fortnight after having none for a while. One of these took place in a block of flats with entry phone and could have been prevented if the victim had double locked the door. We’re unsure how the suspect(s) gained entry to the block. The tradesmen button probably wasn’t working during the period when the offence was committed. This means that the suspect(s) have either buzzed or asked a resident to let them in. If this was the case it would appear that the resident didn’t check who they were – just let them in. If you live in flats with entry phone and someone buzzes to come in and who is not visiting you, make them wait at the front door. If you’re not happy with who they say they are, send them away or ask for ID. If you are suspicious, please call 999. Also whatever type of home you live in always double lock your front door as edged objects can easily open single locked doors.
On a lighter note, I held residents’ surgery at the library where I met several parents who had come in with their young children after school and had some nice chats.
At a recent cadet meeting we did a radio exercise with the children. Their ability and enthusiasm was very impressive.
Our next surgery is at Shortlands Library, Shortlands Road from 3pm to 4pm on Friday 18/03/21. Hope to see some of you there.
Kind regards
Adam
