Local Crime Update 31/03/2023

Dear Residents

Please find below the crime record for the period from 17 March to 31 March 2023.

Good to see the overall crime rate was low with many crime free days during the period.  Disappointing to see three burglaries but glad none of them were house burglaries.  Regarding the River Park Gardens burglary, it seems that tradesmen need to bring their tools into their homes overnight rather than leave them in the garage.  Our crime stats show that occupied homes are rarely broken into but most garage burglaries and thefts from motor vehicle offences occur overnight.  Also worrying to see that parcel theft has escalated from taking from doorsteps to snatching from driver’s hands. Fortunately the driver wasn’t hurt.  The recent tool theft in Brabourne Rise serves as a timely reminder why workmen should not leave tools unattended on unsecured sites.

On the community engagement side, I visited the Community Café at St Mary’s Church on Wednesday just gone (29/03/23) and attended outside Valley Primary School at the start of the school day yesterday (31/03/23).  The next three community engagement events will be:

  • a Cuppa with a Copper Session at Costa Coffee, Westmoreland Road on Tuesday 04/04/23 from 4pm to 5pm,
  •  our next Ward Panel Meeting on Tuesday 11/04/23 at 7.30 pm in the Friends Room, St Mary’s Church, Kingswood Road
  •  a drop-in surgery at Shortlands Library, Shortlands Road from 10am to 11am on Saturday 15/04/23.

Look forward to seeing some of you at these events.

Thanks as always for your help and support.

Kind regards

Adam
