05 Aug Local Crime Update 31/07/2023
Dear Residents
Please find below the crime record for the period from 16th July to 31st July.
I’d like to draw your attention to the two theft from petrol pump offences in Westmoreland Road as this seems to be a new type of criminal activity which could result in large amounts of money being stolen. If possible always pay in the shop after filling up rather than paying at the pump. Also very worrying to see that an elderly lady had her freedom pass snatched. Best practice to avoid being a victim of this type of crime would be to keep your pass concealed until you have stepped on to the bus. Good to see that the number of thefts of motor vehicles has dropped in the second half of July.
On the community engagement side the team will be carrying out several visits to Buzzers the children’s holiday club at St Mark’s School. We did the first one on Wednesday. We talked to the children about road safety & stranger danger before giving them the opportunity to ask questions about policing in general. The children were very enthusiastic and it went very well.
Our next Cuppa with a Copper sessions will be on Thursday 10/08/23 from 3pm to 4pm & Thursday 24 /08/23 from 11am to Midday. Both will be at Costa Coffee, Westmoreland Road. Our next drop in surgery at Shortlands Library, Shortlands Road will be on Saturday 02/09/23 from 10am to 11am. The next panel meeting is on Tuesday 29/08/23 at 7.30 pm in the Friends Room at St Mary’s Church, Kingswood Road.
Look forward to seeing some of you at these events.
Thanks as always for your help and support.
