Local Crime Update 15/12/2023

Dear Residents

Please find below the crime record for the period from 1st to 15th December 2023.

Overall, the crime rate in the last fortnight was fairly low.

A couple of reminders regarding burglary prevention.  Always ensure your front door is double locked even if you live in a block of flats with an entry phone as single locked front doors can be opened by sliding an edged object into the latch which will open the door causing no damage.  Also with Christmas coming do not leave packaging from expensive presents on display in the front garden while awaiting recycling collection.  Ensure they are placed in the appropriate bin or container.  If you have to leave some of your rubbish and/or recycling in the open due to bins and containers being full leave out packaging for less valuable items.  When it comes to theft from motor vehicles, don’t leave expensive presents overnight in vehicles.

On the community engagement side, we’ve held a Cuppa With A Copper session , a Ward Panel meeting and a drop in surgery at the library since my last report. I was very encouraged that a gentleman I’d met previously brought his wife to the Cuppa With A Copper session as she said she’d like to meet her local police; a lady came to the library on 15th December for the same reason.  I hope to be at St Mary’s Church on 17th Dec for post service tea and coffee and also hope to be there next Sunday (24/12/23) for the afternoon event.  Our next Cuppa with a Copper will be at Costa Coffee, Westmoreland Road on Sunday 31/12/23 from 10am to 11am when I also try to go into St Mary’s after the morning service.

I’d like to close by wishing you all a Merry Christmas and thank you for your help and support throughout the year.  Stay safe.

Kind regards

Adam
