18 Feb Local Crime Update 15/02/2024
Dear Residents
Please find below the crime record for the period from 1sr Feb to 15 Feb ’24.
Very pleasing to see no burglaries. Unfortunately there were several thefts from motor vehicle offences where expensive items were stolen. Never leave expensive items in vehicles overnight as there is too much risk of them being stolen. Also Nissan Navaras seem to have become popular vehicles to steal recently. The recent vehicle thefts in Scotts Lane and Bromley Road were both Navaras. I’m not sure of any particular reason why this has happened but if I find out anything I’ll let you know. If you do own one, it might be worth considering the usual vehicle crime prevention measures. These could include locking in the garage, Faraday case or similar container, steering wheel lock or if you have another vehicle parking it between your Navara and the road on the driveway.
Unfortunately due to training and staffing up the response team we’ve not been able to spend too much time on the ward in the last two weeks. Last Wednesday (07/02/24) I managed to visit the Community Café at St Mary’s Church where I enjoyed some very pleasant chats with residents. Look forward to seeing some of you at the panel meeting at St Mary’s Church this Tuesday (20/02/24) at 7.30pm. We’ll be holding a drop in surgery at Shortlands Library on Saturday 24/02/24 from 10am to 11am. Hope to see some of you there.
Thanks very much for your help and support.
