Dear Residents,

Please find below the crime record for the period from 17 July to 31 July 2025.

Very worrying to see racist graffiti being sprayed in the area covering both the public highway & private property.  If you see anyone writing, drawing or spraying something on the street or a building please call 999.

Thefts of vehicles are still currently the most common crime in the area.  Remember there’s a good range of products to look at on the “secured by design” website for securing both vehicles & homes.

On a more positive note, it’s been over a week since any vehicles were stolen on the ward.

On the community engagement side, I had an enjoyable visit to St Mary’s Church for post service tea & coffee on Sunday just gone (03/08/25).

Unfortunately, I had to cancel the drop-in surgery scheduled for Saturday 02/08/25 as I was deployed on other duties.

Our next “Cuppa with a Copper” will be from 4pm to 5pm at Costa Coffee, Westmoreland Road on Friday 15/08/25.

Shortlands Crime Record 17/07/25-31/07/25

 

Theft of Motor Vehicle:

    1. 17/07/25 Late afternoon-18/07/25 early morning.  Bromley Grove.  Vehicle stolen from road.  White Fiat 500.
    2. 21/07/25 Early evening-22/07/25 early morning.  Kingswood Avenue.  Vehicle stolen from driveway.  Blue Ford Focus.
    3. 23/07/25 Early morning-late afternoon.  Glassmill Lane.  Vehicle stolen from road outside victim’s house.
    4. 29/07/25 Early evening-30/07/25 mid morning.  Farnaby Road. Vehicle stolen from driveway.  Toyota Dyna.

 

Theft:

    1. 20/07/25 Early morning.  Victim’s bag stolen on train while victim was sleeping.
    2. 23/07/25 Early afternoon.  Beckenham Lane.  Several boxes of cigarettes stolen from shop.
    3. 18/07/25-01/08/25.  Ravensbourne Avenue.  Victim concerned that her cats may have been stolen due to them both disappearing within in two weeks.  No evidence of theft.

 

Theft from Motor Vehicle:

    1. 21/07/24 Early afternoon.  Beckenham Grove.  Number plates stolen.
    2. 22/07/25 Early evening-23/07/25 early morning.  Whitecroft Close.  Tools stolen from van parked on driveway.
    3. 28/07/25 mid morning-late afternoon.  Queens Mead Road.  Number plates stolen.

 

Criminal Damage:

    1. 18/07/25 Early morning- early afternoon.  Number reading plate damaged on ULEZ camera.
    2. 13/07/25-19/07/25.  Downs Hill.  Racist graffiti sprayed on garage door and on nearby pavement & railway bridge.

 

Burglary:

    1. 22/07/25 Late afternoon-23/07/25 late morning.  Scooter stolen from communal area of flats.  Chained up but suspect cut chain.

 

Robbery:

    1. 31/07/25 Overnight.  Wickham Way.  Motorcycle pulled up alongside victim who was walking with his friend.  Rider asked for victim’s phone.  Victim said it had low battery so suspect (rider) threw it on the floor.  Victim fled when he noticed suspect had a hammer.
