20 Dec Latest Crime Update 30/11/2025 & 15/12/2025
Dear Residents,
Please find below the crime record for the periods from 16 Nov to 30 Nov and from 1st Dec to 15 Dec 2025.
As many of you are aware there’s recently been a spate of burglaries in and around Oakway and Scotts Lane. The team will be patrolling this area regularly over our upcoming shifts.
Regarding prevention advice, based on what’s been reported to us, ensure you don’t leave keys in or close to doors.
On one of the burglaries the suspect(s) entered through an upstairs window but were able to leave by the back door due to the key being either in or close to the door enabling the suspect(s) to exit more easily and discreetly. If they’d had to exit the way they’d entered there would have been a greater chance of the suspect(s) being seen.
Jewellery and cash seem to be the most popular items stolen. If you have a large amount of either in your home, consider storing it in smaller amounts in different locations.
With Christmas nearly here, remember not to leave packaging from expensive gifts out on display while awaiting recycling and rubbish collection. Ensure they are hidden from view in a recycling box or a bin.
On the community engagement side, we’ll be holding a drop-in surgery at Shortlands Library from 10am to 11am this Saturday 20/12/25. We also hope to attend at St Mary’s Church this Sunday 21/12/25 for post service tea & coffee.
I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your help & support over the year and wish you all a Merry Christmas.
Kind Regards
Adam Charles
