Local Crime Update 15/06/2023

Dear Residents

Please find below the crime record for the period from 1 June to 15 June ’23. Disappointing to see a slight rise in theft of motor vehicle offences.  Also very disappointing to see two burglaries in the last fortnight, both of which could have been prevented if doors and gates had been locked.  Very sad to see what appears to be an act of wanton vandalism on someone’s car. Worrying to see a fraud offence attempting to con a vulnerable elderly person out of a large amount of money.  Pleased that the victim realised what was going on and was able to prevent any money being taken.  Also worrying to see that people have had things taken from their driveways and communal areas of blocks of flats.  Sadly, this shows that it’s sometimes risky to leave property unattended even for a short amount of time.

Overall our crime rate is very low compared to other Wards.  Remain vigilant and things should stay this way.

On the community engagement side, we’ve got a few things coming up.

  • Tonight, (Tuesday 20/06/23) we ‘ve got the Ward Panel meeting in the Friends Room at St Mary’s Church at 7.30 pm.
  • On Saturday (24/06/23) we’ve got a drop-in surgery at Shortlands Library from 10am to 11am and a weapons sweep in South Hill Woods & Kingswood Glen at Midday.  Those wishing to join us on the weapons sweep, please meet from 11.45 am onwards at the entrance to South Hill Woods at the junction of South Hill Road & Westmoreland Road.

Look forward to seeing some of you at these events.

All being well we’ll be holding a speed and vehicle check operation on Ravensbourne Avenue today.

Thanks as always for your help and support.

Kind regards

Adam
