Dear Residents

Please see below the crime record for the period from 1st July to 15th July.

Very sad to see that someone could be cruel enough to steal an elderly person’s mobility scooter.  Sadly, like many other vehicles, it seems they may only be safe when kept securely locked indoors.  We’ve seen a spate of thefts of vehicles and also seen a case of damaged security gates in an unsuccessful attempt to steal a vehicle.

We’ve also seen a burglary and two attempted burglaries.  Pleasing to see no thefts from tools from vehicles and that there were quiet a few days during the period of this report when no crime occurred.  Remain vigilant and hopefully that will keep the criminals away and we can maintain our position as one of London’s safest council Wards.

On the community engagement side, I’m hoping to pop into the community café at St Mary’s Church this Wednesday (19/07/23).  We’ll be holding a Cuppa With A Copper Event this Friday 21st July at Costa Coffee, Westmoreland Road from 1130am to 1230 pm.  On Saturday 29/07/23 there’ll be a drop-in surgery at Shortlands Library, Shortlands Road from 10am to 11am.

Attempted Burglary:

  1. 01/07/23  Overhill Way.  Suspect(s) attempted to force open window.  Disturbed by victim and fled prior to police arrival.
  2. 04/07/23.  Daytime.  Madeira Avenue.  Suspect(s) attempted to smash glass in front door.

Theft From Motor Vehicle:

  1. 03/07/23.  Late morning-late evening.  Hayes Way.  Number plates stolen.

Theft of Motor Vehicle:

  1. 02/07/23 Mid morning- 03/07/23 early morning.  Recreation Road.  Vehicle stolen from road outside victim’s house.   Ford Transit Van.
  2. 04/07/23 Late morning- early evening.  Martins Road.  Vehicle stolen road outside victim’s friend’s house.  Nissan Navaro pickup truck.
  3. 05/07/23.  Late afternoon-early evening.  Bromley Road.  Vehicle stolen from communal parking area of block of flats.  KIA Sportage SUV.

Criminal Damage:

  1. 09/07/23 Mid evening.  Beckenham Lane.  Wall damaged by two teenagers playing knock & run.
  2. 10/07/23 Overnight.  Kingswood Road.  Electronic gates damaged.  Suspects attempted to force open gates to steal Range Rover from driveway.
  3. 10/07/23 Mid morning- 11/07/23 early evening.  Queensmead Road.  Rear window of vehicle smashed.

Theft:

  1. 11/07/23.  Mid morning- mid afternoon.  Mays Hill Road.  Mobility scooter stolen from grounds of flats.

Burglary:

  1. 11/07/23 Overnight.  Ravensbourne Avenue.  Two golf buggies stolen from shed at golf course.
