Local Crime Update 30/09/2023

Dear Residents

Please find below the crime records for the period from 20th Sept to 30th Sept 2023.  Fortunately the crime level generally remained low over the latter half of September.

Following on from a conversation I had at the public Safer Neighbourhood Panel last Tuesday with a resident, and on the phone to a victim yesterday, can I remind people that it is very important to report crime to police so that we have an accurate record of what’s happening.  By all means use neighbourhood WhatsApp groups to keep each other informed of what’s happening in the area but this is secondary to reporting to police.  If we have a hotspot area where we need to put together an operation requiring extra officers we would need to be able to provide crime reference numbers, times & dates.  This also helps us plan our daily patrols & contact victims.

Anyway on a more positive note it was very pleasing to see a significant drop in theft of motor vehicles since August & that there is still a much lower burglary rate post lockdown.

On the community engagement side we’re holding a drop in surgery at Shortlands Library, Shortlands Road on Saturday 07/10/23 from 10 am to 11am.  Be great to see some of you there.  I’m also going to try and pop into St Mary’s Church this Sunday (08/10/23).  Our next Cuppa With A Copper session will be on Thursday 19/10/23 from 4pm to 5pm.

Thanks as always for your help and support.

Kind regards

Adam
