03 Dec Local Crime Update 30/11/2021
Dear Residents
Please find below the crime record for the period from 15th Nov to 30th Nov 2021.
Pleasing to see a drop in theft of motor vehicles and no residential burglaries. Disappointing to see two shop burglaries as we don’t usually see these on the Ward. Also on a positive note we’ve had no theft from motor vehicle offences for just over a week. Hopefully this general drop in crime continues into December. Disappointing to see nasty behaviour from a group of youths in Wickham Way that would have been very frightening for the victims. The victim did call 999 and a group of youths were stopped. Unfortunately the victim was unable to identify the culprits.
On a happier note, all three Shortlands DWOs visited Highfield School last Thursday (25/11/21) as part of their road safety week. We gave talks to all years, apart from reception, on road safety and, for the two oldest years (5 & 6), also included stranger danger and safe social media use. The children seemed to enjoy it and showed great enthusiasm both answering questions we put to them & asking us questions.
The next drop in surgery is on Tuesday 14/12/21 from midday to 1pm at Shortlands Library, Shortlands Road. Hope to see some of you there.
Thanks as always for your help and support.
Kind Regards
Adam
