Local Crime Update15/04/2023

Dear Residents

Please find below the crime record for the period from 1st April to 15th April.  Overall, the amount of crime’s been very low over the last fortnight.  Very pleasing to see no theft from or of motor vehicle.  Regarding the recent criminal damage to a vehicle in Farnaby Road remember to keep your eyes firmly on your vehicle at all times while showing it to prospective buyers.

On the community engagement side, we held a drop-in surgery at Shortlands Library yesterday (15/04/23).  The next community engagement event will be a Cuppa with a Copper Event at Costa Coffee, Westmoreland Road on Saturday 22/04/23 from 3pm to 4pm.

Speed Checks:

Today (16/04/23) we carried out a traffic operation across the three wards in our group.  We went to Madeira Avenue junction with Bromley Gardens on Shortlands & Park Langley; Worsley Bridge Road on Beckenham Town Centre & Copers Cope and Stone Park Avenue on Kelsey & Eden Park.  No speeding or other offences at Madeira Avenue junction with Bromley Gardens or on Worsley Bridge Road.  Several drivers caught speeding on Stone Park Avenue with a highest recorded speed of 58 mph. A driver was also issued a fixed penalty notice for using a mobile phone.

Thanks as always for your help and support.

Kind regards

Adam

  1. 07/04/23.  Mid evening.  Farnaby Road.  Victim was selling his car.  Three males came to look at the car.  While one distracted him.  The other poured oil into the coolant reservoir and over the engine block.  This caused the exhaust to emit black smoke giving the impression the engine was damaged so they could buy the car for a cheaper price.  The victim refused to sell the vehicle to them.  Vehicle has had to be sent to garage for repairs.
