Local Crime Update30/04/2023

Dear Residents

Please find below the crime record for the period from 16th April to 30 April 2023.  Very pleasing to see no burglaries or thefts from motor vehicles over the last fortnight.  Worrying to see a knifepoint robbery take place at Queensmead Recreation Ground.  Even worse, after the victim had handed over the ‘phone he was then assaulted, even though he’d complied.  Always remember your life is more valuable than your property.

We’ve recently carried out some speed checks on the Ward.  We went to Bromley Avenue junction with Madeira Avenue late morning on Sunday 16/04/23 between 1130 & 1145, along with Stone Park Avenue which leads on to our Ward.  Nothing to report from Bromley Avenue junction with Madeira Avenue but Stone Park Avenue saw several people stopped and warned about their speed and a fixed penalty notice issued for using a mobile phone while driving. On driver was speeding at 55 mph on Stone Park Avenue (which is strictly on Kelsey & Eden Park Ward); however, it is worth mentioning to give everyone an idea of which areas have more speeding problems, especially as it’s a road that leads on to our Ward.  On Friday 21/04/23 we carried out speed checks from 3.30pm to 4pm on Brabourne Rise and 4.30pm to 5pm on Ravensbourne Avenue.  No speeding vehicles or drivers using mobile phones.  All drivers and passengers were wearing seatbelts.  At this time, I don’t have any dates for future checks at the moment.

On the community engagement side, I attended the Community Café at St Mary’s Church today (03/05/23) where I had some nice chats with those attending.  On Sunday I’ll be trying to visit the church picnic and as many street parties as possible.  The next two community engagement sessions are Cuppa with a Copper at Costa Coffee, Westmoreland Road on Wednesday 10/05/23 from 4pm to 5pm and a drop-in surgery at Shortlands Library, Shortlands Road on Saturday 20/05/23 from 10am to 11am.  Hope to see some of you at these various events.

Thanks as always for your help and support.

Kind regards

Adam
