Dear Residents,

Please find below the crime record for the period from 16 Jan to 31 Jan 2026.

We’ve had a spate of vehicle thefts.  I noticed that three of the four vehicles stolen were Fords.  Might be worth speaking to them if you own a Ford and have any concerns re vehicle security. It’s also worth visiting the Secured By Design Website for the latest vehicle & home security products.

On the community engagement side we’ve got two Cuppa With A Copper sessions this month.  One’s this Friday (06/02/26) from 4pm to 5pm with the other being on Thursday 19/02/26 from 1130am to 1230pm. Both will be held at Costa Coffee, Westmoreland Road.

Our next ward panel meeting’s at 7.30pm on Tuesday 24/02/26 in the Friends Room at St Mary’s Church.

Hope to see some of you at these events.

Unfortunately we might not be able to hold any surgeries at Shortlands Library for a while due to maintenance work.

Shortlands Crime Record 16/01/26-31/01/26

Theft:

  1. 18/0/26 Overnight.  Farnaby Road  Hedges dug up & stolen from front garden.  Lawn damaged.
  2. 19/01/25 Early morning-mid afternoon.  Castle Close.  Dustbin stolen from outside house.

 

Burglary:

  1. 16/01/26 Mid morning-22/01/26 late afternoon.  South Hill Road.  Windows of ground floor flat smashed.  Untidy search carried out.  Unknown if anything stolen.
  2. 27/01/26 Mid morning- early afternoon.  Queen Anne Avenue.  Front door opened after key safe forced open.  Untidy search.  Jewellery, laptops & car keys stolen.

 

Theft from Motor Vehicle:

  1. 20/01/26 Overnight.  Farnaby Road.  Coat & folding bicycle stolen from vehicle.
  2. 20/01/26 Late morning.  Brabourne Rise.  Tools stolen from van.  Suspects gained entry by cutting wires to disable alarm.
  3. 21/01/26 Late morning.  Brabourne Rise.  Van broken into.  Tools stolen.
  4. 22/01/26 Late morning.  Farnaby Road.   Rear passenger window of car smashed.  Tools stolen.

 

Criminal Damage:

  1. 18/01/26 Early morning-19/01/26 early morning.  Brookwood Close.  Hole smashed in electrical box at front of house.

 

Theft of Motor Vehicle:

  1. 24/01/26 Mid morning-late afternoon.  Kingswood Road.  Car stolen from outside block of flats.  Dark blue Ford Kuga.
  2. 25/01/26 Mid afternoon- 26/01/26 mid morning.  Durham Road.  Van stolen from outside house.  White Ford Transit Connect.
  3. 27/01/26 Early evening-28/01/26 early morning.  Malmains Way.  Car stolen from driveway.  Blue KIA EV6.
  4. 29/01/25 Early evening-30/01/26 late morning.  Madeira Avenue.  Vehicle stolen from outside house.  Grey Ford Ranger.
